For a small school (about 350 students), BMS tries to offer a variety or programs and choices for the students. I have found the staff to be caring and competent--and they also will not bend to one particular parent or student's demands if not in the best interest of the students. Elective choices are slim due to the size of the school, and extra-curricular activities are mostly sports. I do disagree with the student above who posted about the activities--my students enjoyed the vairety of choices the nearby park center offered after school (dance, cooking, forensics, art, drama, etc.), and also found the counselors to be firm--but fair, very experienced, and very accessible and caring. I have, above all, found Broadway to be a safe and nurturing environment which does the best it can with its restrictions (size, older facilities, student population that moves a lot.)

Broadway middle school has excellent teachers who make learning fun and a wide variety of electives. However, their TAG program does nothing for the smarter-than-average student and extracurricular activities are all sports or un-exciting programs put together by the youth center. The counseling staff is the absolute worst and has no idea how to deal with the students. I still love my school, even though it is very average.

Broadway has come a long way since I was a student. When I went (1982-1984) there were few sports and no other extra activities beyond that. The teachers, while competent, were a bit stodgy in their attitudes toward education and lacked in getting us motivated to learn. I am now a parent of a student at this school and can see many improvements, including more activities to get students involved and a more advanced curriculum. Kudos!

Broadway has very few select teachers who show excellance and those who are exceptional have helped mold Broadways students into mostly responsible intelegent mostly well informed beings. I believe acedemics and schedual could use improvements and adjustments in curriculum. The extra curricular activies are many but not all quality. It seems to me that the schools majority of students are the unruley kind and would be best controlled with extra brake time and more interestin (fun) activities involved with curriculum.
