This school isn't as bad as others might suggest i graduated here in 2009 and got into a 4 year college with no problem. Some teachers are really great but others don't even teach at all but instead watch movies and practically hold a study hall where no studying is being done. The All but one of the 3 councilors actually tries to help the students and i found the other 2 to be unhelpful. Overall, the school is in need of a few improvements and need of a change regarding the faculty and School Board leaders,

I took all AP classes and had no problem get into college, or performing once I got there. The whole time I was at Soledad High, my teachers would tell me 'this is how you'll do it in College, so that's why you need to do it this way now.' And guess what, they were right. My first year of college I already knew MLA format, how to write a structured essay, how to take correct notes, and so on, while other students from different areas/schools, didn't and basically had to learn how on their own. High school is what you make of it. My younger sister graduated from SHS as well. She had no problem getting into a 4 year college, where she is in her third year at. Some teachers don't know how to wisely use all the class-time the given them under the block system.

I went to this school, and everyone talks about everyone. Teachers have their favorites and immature kids act out of hand. It's sad that our Principal couldn't control the dumb acts on behalf of these kids. I graduated 2007, and once I got into college it was embarrassing to know that I wasn't as smart as my other classmates. I realized how much I was behind in education. In high school, my teachers were sweet as friends, but they did not teach me the most important stuff. I'm like a year behind now! I wish My family would've Sacrificed an hour drive, to Salinas High school, a school of success and a school with great sports. I could have got into a 4 year college.... Soledad High school was the place that ruined the begging of successful education. I'm very bummed about my experience at SHS. Good luck with your choice
