PMS has the most actice Parent-Teacher Group of any school I know of. For a small school, the amount this group accomplishes is amazing. There is always an activity in the works for students (and parents) to participate in. The PTG officers volunteer MANY hours with not nearly enough appreciation expressed! The faculty are all outstanding educators with years of experience teaching and sharing best practices. Teachers are compassionate and caring individuals who treat each child as an individual. There is regular communication between school and home. I grew up in this school district, and when I moved away, I never expected my children to be students here. The district has undergone tremendous improvements since I was a student, and I am pleased to have my kids at PMS.

My guidelines for volunteering: If it allows me extra time w/my daughter (i.e. classroom party helper, chaperoning a field trip) I try my best to be there. I don't help w/ set-up/clean-up @ school events or concessions. I work & time is too precious!

I go in every Monday and help with the Kindergarten reading group or play word games. Then I eat lunch with my child. I also attend and bring things to all school parties. Since I volunteer only on Mondays I do not burn out. : )
