Odyssey is an incredible place to let your gifted and talented child's wings open fully. Odyssey provides a rare opportunity for adolescents to have individualized attention, being encouraged to take risks in a safe and supportive environment, and gave loyal friendships with peers and teachers. The school also provides opportunities for leadership and personal growth. Our daughter has absolutely thrived in this school, feeling comfortable about herself socially and academically in every way. We have found the teachers to be incredible, honest and open with us, and have loved them all. Thank you Odyssey!
I have a son at Odyssey and I can't emphasize enough what a wonderful staff & head of school they have. The new math teacher (this is her 2nd year) is fantastic, but so are all the rest of the teachers. You just couldn't ask for a more supportive and caring staff. They really care about the students and how they are doing in all aspects of their life. They get to know the kids very well, right away because each September the staff & students go to a skills building retreat & a Shakespeare Festival & they are gone 11 days. Yes the teachers all go. You won't find a group of more dedicated teachers anywhere. This school is a great value for the $$ compared to many others and everthing is included in the tuition except some Friday lunches at restaurants, and they have a $10 limit on those.

Odyssey is a terrific little gem of a school in the Crystal Springs area of San Mateo. Highlights include: * 10 day trip at the start of each year with all the students and teachers. They spend 7 days at a ranch doing group bonding, then 3 days at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. *students start Japanese languange classes in 6th grade and the 3 year program culminates with a class trip to Japan at the end of 8th grade. *very small class sizes mean lots of individual attention from teachers. Teachers really get to know every student well. *No busy work. The classes are taught at a high level. *All students have use of a Mac laptop computer and its use is integrated into most classes. *There is a student-selected 'intersession' (January-term) in-depth project. Kids have nearly free reign to choose the topic... projects last year ranged from scuba diving to cake decorating to digital photography.

Do you feel your kid never stop wondering the world around him/her? Do you feel your little one enjoys challenge you more and more with his/her modern idea and you feel it s harder and harder to win over? Does your child complain often how bored he/she is at school yet he/she plays video game tirelessly for hours? Do you care about your child s education from your heart and look for educators whom your child will trust, respect and count on not only for 3 years but for the rest of his/her life? Then Odyssey middle school is the perfect choice for your child and your family and I highly recommend it to all families who are considering. We ve looked for quite a few other independent schools in the bay area for our daughter and we re so glad we found Odyssey by the end.
