My children go to Lodge and I couldn't have picked a better school for them. I was worried about my children going to Detroit public schools but this school as put those fears to rest. The teachers are wonderful caring people,Mrs.Banks is a wonderful principle and I feel one hundred percent safe with my childern being there.

John c lodge is a wonderful school to send your children. i have had nothing but excellence experiences there with my children. the principle is great the staff is wonderful, everyone knows each other and we work together.

Though Lodge may not be much to look at, the staff makes up for it. While it is true that playground is severly deprived of what we parents remember from our childhood, the teachers do thier best to make the students' learning experience better. The principal, Mrs. Banks is one of the best around. She takes a personal interest in each and every one of the students as though they were her own children. Mrs. Francis works to brighten up the world for the kindergarten students, and every month takes them on a 'trip' around the world. Mrs. Brown brings the gift of song to the whole school, and there is en afterschool activity for any student that wants to stick around. The glee club. I wish that this school went farther than just 5th grade.

I would not recommend this school. The teachers try to teach as well as they can, but the school lacks the proper supplies for the students, such as a sufficient number of books and materials. Many of the parents work full time, and the PTA meetings are usually held at a time they cannot attend. There are no extracurricular activities for these kids, which is a shame. The worst thing is the lack of a safe playground. The current playground is dirty and full of trash, such as broken bottles, used needles, and other paraphanalia. The community is trying to give the kids here a safe and quality school, but without help from the school board and police, it is not possible.
