I love Newman Elementary. The new principal Rita and our Assistant Pincipal seem right on top of every issue that could arise. I feel confindent that my children are getting an unbelievable education. I do not feel my children are at any risk in this school system. The school is big, but does not feel big. There is a great sense of community that continues to build.
THis is a big school with big problems. The new principal and vice proncipal seem overwhelmed by the tasks facing them. Parents seem willing to accept what the school does, only to find out as the children mature that they have not received all of the services that they require. As the largest school intown, the children here are underserved by the school system. With a great deal of turnover amongst the most experienced and valued teachers, the students are at risk in this school.

Newman is a big school with a small feel. It was a middle school that has been converted to an elementary so it is big. The community is very involved in the school and there are a lot of programs for the kids to get involved in. They do not offer a language because of budget cuts. The principal and vice principal are new and are visible and accessible to parents. The playground is a kid's dream and mcas scores are above average for the area. Overall, a very good school.
