The new staff from administrative to teachers, aides and all support departments have made such a significant difference to all the students from Middle through to High School at Alexander! I am the proud parent of one of the High School teachers there, and although I may be "prejudice" due to my relationship, I think the new flux of younger staff is exhilarating---they bring in fresh ideas, are full of energy, and spread this amongst their students. Our younger staff today is so much more educated in all the needs of young students, today. I hate to disagree with one of the former student teachers who posted here, but we need young and fresh teachers! Just look at the work force outside the school system--young people everywhere graduating from prestigous colleges all over WNY areas and working in today's work force. Where have you been, I have to wonder?
My daughter attends there and I have never had a problem. We have one pf the best sports programs I have a seen. Great teachers and students. All around its the best place to be!!!
I am a parent in the district, but my experience with the school is as a substitute teacher and swim coach. I have taught all grades. The school is clean and well-kept, though not as good as it used to be (I am 1997 alumni). The teachers are overall very good, though their older, more experienced teachers are beginning to retire (my dad this year). Overall this is a great place to have a family, but the quality of education seems to be heading down - this is mostly due to a break-up of the family in the area, but as with all new teachers, their training is insufficient and excacerbates the problem.
