The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.
My son has come from a private school where I have paid a TON of money for a great education. I wish this school could provide k-12 as a free charter school. He always hated school...now he loves school and is just doing amazingly well. He now understands and likes math! He is more responsible and less stressed. This school is the best kept secret in Redlands.
A 5 star rating in our hearts and about a 41/2 in truth.(More funding = more resources for students; we do what we can) There is a good mix of students from Redlands and surrounding communities. Parents who feel strongly about a well rounded education and willing to both volunteer their time and commute with their child daily. Students are encouraged to be creative and thorough in completing their work. Great college prep!
My son has spent the past three years at the Grove Middle school (Farm campus), grades 7-9, and is moving to the HS campus this fall. He has thrived in this small school environment. All students are known to all teachers/staff. The interplay between grades works well. I especially like that the 9th graders are mostly kept in the middle school environment while still beginning to integrate them into the high school (9th graders can take afternoon electives at the high school campus and participate on their sports teams) As a small charter school, the teachers aren't necessarily being paid what their counterparts are and teacher turn over has been a bit of an issue, but there are a core of truly exceptional and dedicated teachers that really make the school (on both the high school and middle school campus).
My daughter attended Grove for her Sophomore year and now currently her Junior Year. I do like the smaller school atmosphere, field trips, community service and student planned trips known as Winterim. I am a little disappointed with a couple of teachers. Most of the teachers are motivating and professional with the teens and seem to really relate to the students. I wish the parent hours of 30 per year were enforced by the current Principal, and all parents had the desire to help make the school even better. The front office staff keep things in order and they are helpful. Overall it is a good alternative to Public school.
