This school cares more about getting good test scores than learning what is needed for schooling after high school. The principal has eliminated many experienced teachers who do not share his test orientied point of view. I am glad my daughter is graduating. If I had more children I would home school. Teaching only what will be asked on the test is not an education--stay away.
I am very pleased with the schools in Meeker the teachers are very dedicated and care about the kids. I do wish that they would enforce the dress code and teach the kids how to take pride in thier school. Sadly I do believe that if you have a child that does not excel or is not self motivated they become easily overlooked. There are plenty of programs available but if the kids aren't involved they are simply discounted.
I am a previous student of Meeker High School and I would like to commend this school for its great job. There are excellent teachers who care about students combined with small classes. These are excellents tools that provide each student with the opportunity to succeed. A small school also allows student to be involved with many more extracurricular activities as well as encouraging student to do them. All in all, I feel that I received a very well-rounded education that prepared me to enter the real world from Meeker High School.
I have two daughters that have attended and graduated from Meeker High School and currently have another daughter enrolled in the eleventh grade. This school has some excellent teachers, but the principal, who is going to be the superintendent as of June, does not take near enough action towards discipline. There are college courses offered, and the teachers that teach them do an excellent job. I feel they prepared my girls that graduated and my third daughter is currently taking two of the courses. This school also has many parents that defend their children too much. Teachers that take appropriate action to discipline the student are later confronted by angry parents who think their child has done nothing wrong. This school is not one that I would recommend for any student.
