The teachers and students seem to be divided into two categories. There are those who care and those who don't. Those who care teach AP courses and take AP courses. Those who don't are in the remaining courses. If your child is in the average courses, I think they are in a much more difficult learning environment to be in due to the thugs who create distraction and the uninterested teachers who are not in control of those classes. Hence, your child's academic performance, emotional wellbeing, and self-esteem are all better off by being in advanced classes. I give the school overall an average score for not taking initiative to have more staff who care and for not dealing more effectively with the students who cause hell for everyone. I know each student is a placeholder for cash. However, when they are allowed to cause hell for others, they are robbing the other students of their right to an education. Make the alternative school bigger and like a prison. Then load it up with a few teachers and security. Get the $$$ and spare the rest of our kids.

I transferred to Oldham in 9th grade and I have to say this school is the best I've been to. Most teachers are great at what they do, they care, and they help you set high goals for yourself. There's not a lot of drama unless you make it for yourself. They have a wide range of extra curricular activities. This school is plain and simply, amazing.

I believe that oldham county schools are highly over rated. Students dont do any work while in school and do all the work outside school. This school has no respect for extra curricular activites. Go south.

I would give the school 2 Stars. I believe the students are not challenged unless you are in a AP class. My daughter brings home little or no homework - she needs very little study time to pull an A. The guidance staff are stretched beyond there daily capacity, having little time with the students to work out schedules appropriate for them, I agree with the student, some of the staff are there only for the paycheck.

Interesting idea. I'd just want to make sure the students are held to the same standards as regular school kids--including grades, and school time. If a kid can practice all day long, it hardly seems fair he take a spot from a regular student.
