I have had the pleasure of having both of my children attend St. John School. They have since graduated and have had great success accademically and socially in high school. We chose this school because they reinforce the christian values my husband and I teach at home. When we looked at the different schools in Middletown we were fully aware of the lack of a gym or cafeteria, and felt they were not an essential part of our children's learning process. We also chose this schools because of the strict enforcement of all school rules. Many parents who send their children to St. John school have chosen it because of the same reasons. Also, if the principal does not support the teachers, then what kind of control will they have in their classrooms? I would highly recommend St. John school to any parent who values the schools mission and commitments.

The other parent obviously had a bad experience. It is true that the facilities are limited, but this is due to the incredibly tight budget the school operates on. A parish center will be built soon to address those issues. In the meantime, the children receive a great education and an incredible amount of compassion. I have never, in the five years my child has attended this school, seen anything less. Extra-curricular activities for lower grades--like what? Start a scouting troop, if you want one. Go to the public schools--you'll still have to put your child on town little league teams. I don't know what this parent is looking for. We are very happy with St. John School--and so is our child.

We found the atmosphere to be hypocritical. This is suppose to be a Christian environment, showing compassion, yet no compassion towards the children. Too strict, inflexible. No extra-curricular activities for the lower grades, no playground, no cafeteria to help the children have a change of scenery. Weekly gym class 60% of the time cancelled. Principal is active, however, backs up Teachers regardless of situation.
