I am a parent who has one child currently at Allen Avenue, and one child who graduated to the 5th grade and is now at Community School. I have nothing but praise for the teachers/ administration and community that is the Allen Avenue school. My family's experience has been one of a warm, friendly, and encouraging environment. Any problems that came up, were quickly addressed and resolved. I have confidence that my child (children) were valued as much at school as they are at home, and that they know they have two supportive and safe environments in which to blossom.

A dedicated staff, but an overcrowded school built during the Truman administration, back when the southern part of town was all farms. Now subdivisions have popped up everywhere, and there is no room for any of the new kids, but no plans to build a new school anywhere near it. So everyone is crowded into classes built for half the size classes. The cafeteria also serves as a gym. They've bricked off the stage so they can put a library there. But that's also the school's meeting room, so whenever there is a meeting, you can't use the library. The rest of the town's elementary schools are K-5, but this one is only K-4, so when your kid hits 5th Grade, you have to send him/her to a new school for just one year, which is a great hastle if you still have a younger child back at Allen's Avenue.
