Laurence is a great place to send your child. Our child has been at Laurence for 4 years and has grown from a shy, timid child to someone who is more confident and willing to take risks and challenges. It's interesting reading these posts by parents -- most are excellent. A few are 'complainers'...and there are always a few no matter where you go or what you choose. There is a strong sense of community at Laurence, many activities your child can choose during the school day or afterwards, and the staff are amazing. The administrators are knowledgeable and, help make the school stronger year in and year out. In fact, within the past 3 years, they hired a new administrator who had years of experience teaching in independent schools. He's had a very positive, albeit quiet impact at the school. We're so happy our child is there!
Don't be fooled by what they promise when touring this school. It may appear to have all the bells and whistles, but the quality of education at Laurence is poor. Class and group sizes are to big which seems to put a strain on the teachers. There is a large teacher and staff turn over rate and those teachers who do stay are often shuffled around from year to year. On the surface it appears to be all smiles and hugs, and Laurence pride itself on providing a loving and nurturing environment, but from personal experience, it really isn't there. Children are often cruel to one another and very little is done to correct the behavior. The location of the school isn't in an ideal part of town. Look carefully beyond the surface before making a decision about this school.
This school is a wonderful education for my children. We are very pleased with everything about this school. We especially like the way Laurence makes learning exciting. My daughters are excited about going to school every day because they know that each day will bring a new adventure in learning. The teachers and administration are excellent.
IT is a great school with good programs for after school they have a movie making class, cooking, and several more
