I have heard many 'bad' things about East Salisbury and was very concerned about sending my child there. Once their I found supportive teachers and staff. My child enjoys East and is doing great. I think as long as my child has the support of his parents he can excell any where. I am proud of East and the gains they are making.

I decided to give this school a chance since my tax dollars fund it. I met with the principle, teacher, and very shortly after the school year began, the board of education. Believe me when I say this, do not send your child to this school if you have any fears whatsoever. My daughter went from being a straight A student reading on a 6th grade level, to a D student reading on a 2nd grade level. We struggled all year trying to improve her grades. I repeatedly met with her teacher. The more involved I became, the worse the situation became. There is no air conditioning for third grade. The teachers are severe in punishment. I made a very, very bad choice sending my child here. And by the way, the student to teacher ratio is at least 19. My child will not return to this school.

Ms. Tana Ellis is a great asset to East Salisbury. She makes the school a fun place to learn. This is the first year my child actually likes to go to school. Her grades have also improved due to the inclusive teaching style of Mrs. Ellis.

If you truly mean a shy kid who wants to be outgoing, then I would help them interact with one child at a time. If you are talking about an introverted child, refer to http://www.carlkingdom.com/10-myths-about-introverts

Find something you are good at or enjoy doing a lot, just one thing. You'll gain confidence and meet other kids that enjoy that activity too. Mine was singing in choir. I wasn't good at anything else but that built my confidence for other things... More »
