We love Colbert Elementary. My kids have learned so much since being in this school and actually enjoy going to school everyday!

This is a great school. Georgia school system is ranked pretty poorly when compared across the nation. However, at this school you can really see the administration and the teachers are trying to improve things on a shoestring budget. I am glad my son got the opportunity to go here for six months after we decided to return him to public school instead of continuing to homeschool. Great job to the teachers and the administration!

My daughter is currently in the 2nd Grade and has been at Colbert since the 1st grade. We have a new Principal this year (Jodi Weber) and she has identified safety and other needs of the school and is working to make changes. I supplement my daughters studies by working with her at home. No parent should depend solely on the school for their child's education. I'm pleased with my child's progress and feel the school/personnel respond to my inquiries and concerns. I wish there were more extracurricular activities and more parent involvement including a PTO who meets monthly.

They could be doing much more to earn money by collecting more then just BoxTops & Soup Labels. There are Capri Sun Drink Pouches, Used cell phones, laptops, empty ink/toner cartridges. They should look at TerraCycling.com What is PTA REALLY doing?

It is great to teach our kids to give to others-within limits. Support without demanding! I boycott school fundraisers; donate elsewhere to show real value in helping where needed.

From the asking perspective (such as schools asking students to donate to causes) frequent appeals for donations creates real problems for families who cannot afford to donate to every appeal or cause. Stop pressuring kids for money.
