The teachers in Mahanoy High School had totally exceeded my expectations! My son and I were new to this area and he attended another district throughout elementary and middle school ( a district that was supposed to be one of the best) . He had many special needs that frankly, were being ignored by his mainstreamed teachers. This was not the case with the staff at Mahanoy High. It was amazing how each of his teachers took the time to alert me when he was having troubles, whether it was his lack of attention, missed assignments or emotional stress. They actually read his IEP and demonstrated patience that I rarely saw in his previous middle school and high school. It's so wonderful to have caring teachers that not only show true concern over the kids education, but also help build the self esteem kids like my son needed to succeed. My son didn't have a grade lower than an 81 at the end of the year. I owe it all to the staff there. They are all excellent teachers!
i dont know who comes up with the scoring of the school but i personally think there are alot of things that need to be changed... safety yes has changed. discpline no has not .. its still who you know situation.. we do have a new principal who is trying to improve on the school in the high school. we need a reform on the guidance counselor who should be more involved in the curriculm in stead of the social life of the students.. teachers well need awake up call ... you have a few good teachers but they are more about being friends then roll models...
My child is graduating from the middle school..She began school here in jan 09. As we moved from ny to here...I think the school is great, the teachers fantastic, and I made the right choice to send my child here
Great school when I was there a few years ago. They've made many changes, but all for the better. They have much school spirit and the teachers truly care.
