I have 2 children at this school and they are both thriving! We are a military family and are scheduled for a move at the end of this school year and I am very sad to be leaving this area. Everyone, from the principle to the lunch lady, makes my children feel comfortable and happy. The curriculum is challenging enough for those needing an extra challenge but balanced for those who may need to learn at a slower pace. I highly recommend the Essexville school system.

Both of my children are currently attending Verellen School. I am so happy to finally have a school that is family friendly. Meaning they include the parents into the educational programs that to me was a deciding factor to my chidrens school. After all they spend more of their day with teachers and staff. They have a parents read in night, grandparents day. This is such a big event to my children. My daughter is in the D.K. (Developmental Kindergarten)program at Verellen. Verellen is the only school in the Tri-City area to offer this program. It was designed for children who for one reason or another needed a extra year before Kindegarten. i.e. their birthday falls after the cut off date, need more social skills, need more academic skills.etc.. Please if you are moving to this area or just thinking of making a change in schools stop by to meet the staff and parents of the students. I am sure you will agree this a great place for your child's education.

No. I have heard of teachers setting up FB pages on areas of study so students can use technology as a learning tool. All posts are public and private messages are disabled. I won't even friend former students. I do it as a rule-no hurt feelings.

No! As an educator, I don't want to be held responsible for what students are doing outside of the classroom.

Absolutely not. Most schools offer the homework question site through the school system. They do not need to be "friends" with their students through social networking sites.
