The measure of test scores to rate this school are a joke, as the school works hard to teach the students how to take the test. Lots of time wasted just prepping for it. Truly, a waste. But, more importantly, not even remotely indicative of much of anything that's actually taught in this school.

I am a sophmore, graduating in 2009. I attended SSHS my freshman year and planned on graduating from it, until my parents moved me. There were only a few things I disliked about SSHS compared to the new school. I have found that SSHS is a well balanced school in the way I was taught and because it is a smaller school I found that it was easier to get the one on one help from my teachers. Although sports are important to SSHS it is nothing compared to many. Parent involvement is great and focused on, so parents can see how their child is learning and to show what kind of an enviroment it is. SSHS is awesome and even now I'm planning on returning just to graduate.

The new Principal lacks connectedness with staff and students.

Extracurricular activities are all about sports at SSHS. If your child doesn't fit the sports mold, s/he may not fit well into this school. Music, art, computers, etc. are all underfunded, underpromoted, and flat out missing on many realms. Technology is seriously in arrears and desperately in need of direction, guidance, and funding. Special education resources for youth with learning disabilities and/or who are gifted is severely lacking. The teachers at this high school are remarkably student-centric. Student-teacher ratios are low, allowing high levels of student/teacher interaction. Administrative staff and leadership from the district, however, is in serious need of reform to better benefit students' educational needs.
