This is one of the best schools out there! my child goes here and she loves it. The teachers are great and so are th students. There are many fun activities. They have a lot of clubs, and they're adding more this year! parents can also get involved. Some parents are softball, cheerleading, and football coaches, some help in the office.I gurantee you will like the principal and vice principal. They try thir hardest to keep the students safe. If something gets stolen/lost they try to find whatever it is...There is also a police officer in the school, named officer weaver, he not only watches the school,he talks to the students and encourages them to stay in school and not do bad things. I promise you that your child and you will absolutley love hillcrest middle school!!!!

Academics are not of prime consideration here YET, but it's coming. The new principal who actually CHOSE this school because he has a vision for it, has succeeded in creating the perfect atmosphere for it, now that discipline is no longer a problem. The teachers enjoy their jobs and the kids don't dread the hallways and the bathrooms as they once did. Advanced students still have fewer academic challenges than any of the other groups, but Mr Vickers has a plan to change that and has already written and received over 300,000 dollars in a grant for after school enrichment. Let's hope next year this carries over into the classroom. My child won't get the neccesary prep for AP high school courses that is in the works because he'sin the 8th grade. But with this new principal and the enthusiasm of teachers, it is coming.

This school is the best school that my child has ever enrolled into. I hope the Hillcrest high is the same.

No. I have heard of teachers setting up FB pages on areas of study so students can use technology as a learning tool. All posts are public and private messages are disabled. I won't even friend former students. I do it as a rule-no hurt feelings.

No! As an educator, I don't want to be held responsible for what students are doing outside of the classroom.

Absolutely not. Most schools offer the homework question site through the school system. They do not need to be "friends" with their students through social networking sites.
