There are some great teachers at this school in the advanced classes who REALLY care and take your childs education seriously, and I like that. It's up to the child to take advantage of it and the parent to help them understand why they should, and see that they do. The school works very hard to keep it safe for all the kids, but there are always some issues with groups of kids at this age causing trouble, but the school handles it very well. I've never personally had any problems, and haven't heard of any serious problems.

Parents are to leave at door--no involvement. Gangs are in the school. No metal detectors. Too many kids to serve. Not enough elective classes for kids to get what they want as first choice. Sports lead the way. Kids are divided into either advanced classes or dumb classes and tracked and treated as they are labeled. No parental input over level of tracking. You have to make appointment to talk to teachers that is only at their convenience--never yours. Student privacy is low as young cheerleaders handle excuses. Open house was a cattle call with no time to talk to teachers. Most positive comment is in use of Edline but could be better in posting announcements and changes in a timely manner. Lots of kids attending who do not live in neighborhood.

Good school, great teachers. Basic public school with similiar teaching methods in a good enviroment. Way too much sports emphasis. Spend it on academics. I want something more.
