I am a former teacher at Oak Grove. I worked through the 5 princcipals in 6 years. The first of these was about to retire and offered no leadership. The next four each came into the school with an agenda that neither sought nor accepted any input from faculty or community. The entier central office staff as well as the onsite administration shows little but contempt for the school and the community of Oak Grove. An administration that worked with faculty and community to develop an educational plan based on the needs of the children could make that school effective and a blessing for the children.

The quality of education at Oak Grove is as good as any in the city. The teachers there are among the most dedicated I've ever seen. Problem... Central Administration: 5 principals in 5 years? A problem last year over SOLs, an inexperienced principal and asst. principal, new guidance counselor, new TITLE 1 Math, etc. Wouldn't it have been better for the students, and remaining staff at O.G. to get a seasoned administration to re-establish school? New principal is doing a good job, but has inherited a tough job. Why are there seldom more than 25 parents at PTA meetings?, is this the schools or the parents? Too bad other reviewer doesn't know that the administrator at the school is the princiPAL, not principle.

In my opinion this school is a total failure to its students and the community atlarge. The test scores are way below national averages and the children apparently lack proper reading skills. In my opinion the principle should be fired or forced to resign. This is a total disgrace.
