Quality education and a great school system are extremely important to us for our two children, both of whom are at Wayside elementary school. The parent-teacher involvement in advancing the education of students and ensuring they are on track is extremely high and a leading indicator of the school's success. This is coupled by an endearing principal and vice principal who run a very tight ship and do not miss a beat! Their disciplined approach keeps this school at the top of the list and is attributabke to the school's great reputation

Wayside Elementary school is amazing. I have children there, and just can't speak enough about it. Excellent principal and vice-principal, they are on top of every detail in the school. The teachers are amazing, and they key on health and safety. We sure pay high taxes, but it's money well spent.

Wayside School was an outstanding experience for both our children. They left with strong academic skills, solid foundations for future learning, and great memories. The teachers were exemplary in their fields--in some cases the best in the state with so much caring for our children and community. The extracurricular opportunities including chorus, tennis, roller skating after school, and parent-child nights made them love the school all the more. The district and town offer so many community activities to begin with, the school just complimented it so well. The PTA offered so many experiences to become involved in the school in a positive way including the Carnival, Book Fair, Computer Room volunteering, Library volunteering, Reading Incentive Programs, Saturday Movie Afternoons, Blue Claws games, Kindergarten Round-up, Adopt-A-Family activities, Science Fair, Art Expo and family events left a very positive impact on our family. You're crazy not to love this school! -R.J. 2006

They could be doing much more to earn money by collecting more then just BoxTops & Soup Labels. There are Capri Sun Drink Pouches, Used cell phones, laptops, empty ink/toner cartridges. They should look at TerraCycling.com What is PTA REALLY doing?

It is great to teach our kids to give to others-within limits. Support without demanding! I boycott school fundraisers; donate elsewhere to show real value in helping where needed.

From the asking perspective (such as schools asking students to donate to causes) frequent appeals for donations creates real problems for families who cannot afford to donate to every appeal or cause. Stop pressuring kids for money.
