I love this school. The teachers seem to have a keen interest in the children's academic accomplishments. My child attends this school and is in Ms. Cody's Special Needs Class. She is a great teacher and works hard to love and see the children as her own and goes the extra mile to ensure they meet their goals and objectives. The administration seems to truly love the children and emphasizes instruction as well. I am well pleased!

I must say that I have been less than impressed by the emphasis on education at Porterdale. The focus seems to be more on wearing the uniform than on ensuring that the best learning takes place. Also, there seems to be a constant barrage of fundraisers.

As a new resident of Newton County, I did not have much to go by except how a friend characterized this school. I am so very sorry that I didn't do more research before putting my son in this school. I felt funny from day 2 that my son was at a bad school, but I tried to change that perspective. As for PT conferences, this is one of the only ways to speak and see the child's teacher. There is a required reading for 2 hours, even for Kindergarten. I am amazed that my son has only 20-30 minutes a day to run at full blast and have free time with his friends. I am not a fan of this school or the relationship of it's teachers with parents, at least this parent. And my son is a good student. He will not be attending this school next year!
