THis elementary school is a bastion of the samll, close knit community of Chattaroy WA. The School District tried to slice out several grades and reconfigure it to a K-2 school. The community rose up, insisted and resisted. (The reconfiguration issue made the local TV news,BTW) Today the school has lost the 5th grade to the Riverside Campus 8 miles north and remains a PK-4 elementary school. It is wellknow for smaller calsses, lots of volunteer parents and also a good helping of teachers aids. Overall, except for the deteriorating playground equipment, the school is well kept and functions as a core element in the community for a great number of purposes. Many of the children attending live neraby in a planend urban manufactured housing development or within a few miles of the school proper.
