I am a Registered Nurse and a parent of a Tartan youth. Tartan is a wonderful school! I am also a firm believer in keeping a child busy with sports and insisting on excellent grades though. What you do as a parent at home is crucial to your child's success. What disturbs me about the complaining I hear and see about various MN schools in general is that people do not realize how good MN public schools really are!! Try moving to Texas and see what kind of education your student gets there! A particular semi-complaint I see in these reviews speaks of teachers getting to know their students better and this person speaks of difficult home lives....all relevant issues in most circumstances. However, there is not excuse for not getting decent grades of 'B's or better! If there's a learning disorder, get help from the school! Tartan is more than willing to work with any student asking for the help. With a move and some emotional issues in the past year, they listened, adjusted for us, and allowed retesting. This shows how much they care about my child. No complaints here!
I am also a student here from the class of 2009 and i completly disagree with you. you must be one of those people who thinks everything is bad about this school and dont want anything to do with it. Tartan is working on getting our school more up to date on the looks and they can only do one thing at a time and its not like they can do any construction while school is in...only during the summer and they have been working hard to update everything and even more will be done this summer. and really what school doesnt have a click?
My son started at this school with below grade standards and by the end of the second trimester he was getting A's and B's. This is his first time he ever making the A, B honor roll in all of his school years. I found the teachers respond quickly to any concerns I have and challenge my son to be the best. All schools have clicks but I'm more interested in academics. He went from a boy who thought he had no bright future to 'I can go to college'. I thank Tartan for thier dedication. I have a daughter who will start in fall 2010 and I am very confident she will also succeed.
