Mayo demonstration school has an environment that encourages involvement, individuality and provides the opportunity for any child to succeed. The excellence in this school trickles from the top down. Mr. McKenzie has developed a model learning environment that attracts passionate teachers and support staff. The year-long theme and hands on learning involves the children in a very effective way. The children that are lucky enough to attend Mayo will be involved, successful, confident adults and active members of their society.
All grades get along with each other like family. You feel like one big family. Teachers are very good.
My child is a second year Einstein. He has really blossomed at Mayo. All of the children seem to know each other (even when they see each other somewhere else) and all the teachers and assistants know the names of all the students. Mr. McKenzie, the principal is the BEST. He takes lunchroom duty, playground duty.....and even clean up duty, when needed. I don't know of another principal who is so hands-on and loves his students and staff so much. The staff is also dedicated to making sure the children receive the best education. They truly work long and hard to accomplish it. We LOVE Mayo.
Mayo is one of the best schools in Tulsa. It has all the quailities one looks for from a private school such as small class sizes( and overall school size), Inovative teaching techniques, great parent involvement, and traditionally higher than average test scores, and has the qualities one is looking for in the public school system such as diversity and afordability. This school has free after school programs and the most dedicated staff in Tulsa. The principal is a model for any school anywhere. You feel privilaged to attend this school.
