This is an excellent school for children with social communication issues. My son has attended for over 5 years, and he has healthy self-esteem and friends, which would probably never happen at a public high school. If your child has a learning disability, it can be a challenge so close contact with teachers and administrators is necessary in order to ensure your child's educational needs are being met. Caring teachers and kind administators make this school a place where children that wouldn't normally fit in feel like they belong.

This school has the potential to be wonderful. However in recent years, class sizes have become overwhelmingly large while classroom sizes remain small. There is very little yard space to accomodate 200+ students. Very few teachers and aides stick around long term for various reasons.

The well-worn phrase 'It's the only game in town' applies here. Village Glen West serves those on the autism spectrum, as well as students with other challenges. There is not another school anywhere in the Greater Los Angeles area which can offer such services. The first day my daughter attended VGW, she came home and said, 'Mom, I finally feel normal!'. Quite a testimonial, since any child considered 'special needs' faces alienation and self-esteem problems in the public schools. She continues to enjoy this school, and has developed lasting friendships here. The teachers are top-notch, therapies are in-house, and they offer a diploma track, as well as vocational (up to 22 yrs of age). I highly recommend it.
