SCCS does an outstanding job of giving individualized attention to each student. The small class size, parent participation and educational philosophies prioritize the needs and goals of the families involved. Traditionally influenced by Montessori methods, we also incorporate many aspects of Waldorf education; the rural setting, multi-age classrooms and ecclectic but standards-based curriculum provide a uniquely creative, cooperative and challenging education. As a teacher and parent, I'm proud to be part of this 40-year tradition of independent learning.

Salmon Creek Community School is a small school in an extremely rural location. It currently(2007) has two full time credentialed teachers and 10 students. The school provides excellent individualized education. There are, additionally, several field trips every year to educate the students about their local community. The school is totally privately funded by a combination of tuition and fundraising events organized by parents. The school's setting is unique. The views are beautiful! But the only road to the school is narrow, winding and unpaved. The power comes solar panels and a generator. And limited extracurricular activities.
