I have had four children in Sunderland Elementary, and we have always been very pleased. There are always going to be teachers that don't feel like a great for your child, when that situation has come up I have usually been able to request another teacher. I can't say enough positive things about our experience at Sunderland Elementary.
I have had three children in this school, and I can't say enough good things about it. The teachers and staff have always provided a wonderful learning environment for all of my children. I have always been very pleased.
This school, for all its reputation, was an extremely poor environment for my child. There is no interest in the part of the school of accommodating children with different learning styles and abilities, and she had several teachers who used shame and humiliation in front of her peers as techniques to try to force my special-needs child to fit into the mainstream. In the years she was there she went from being naturally curious with a love of learning to being withdrawn and distrustful. My attempts to resolve these issues cooperatively failed, and it was made very clear to me that the principal is disinterested and in fact resentful of parents trying to participate in their own children's education. If I had not been able to school-choice my child to another town I was considering selling my house and moving to get her out of this school.
