The Catholic faith is a way of life at this school: day begins with scripture and prayer, worksheets come home with Bible stories, prayer and Church teaching are woven into the school day. I love the crucifix and other religious images in the hallways, the presence of priests in classrooms or lunch room, and the all-school mass one morning a week, in which children participate by singing, lectoring, carrying gifts. What I don't like is the inaccessibility of the principal. She is never visible in the lunch room, does not greet visitors, is not reliable about returning phone calls and messages. Parents with concerns of any sort are all too often ignored. Also, she will side with the teacher no matter what. Many families have pulled out their children, and I may be next. The school is small, no frills, no nurse. Public schools should do as much with as little.
