Hawthorne High is a C school at most. Im a senior there and the class size is only about 45 or so. The teachers let us get away with everything pretty much. There is discpline just not enforcedd in the right way. They have a poor selection of electives. The 2 choices pretty much are culinary arts and agricultural science. Some of the teachers dress a little rated 'r' sometimes but whos complainin. The front desk ladies are the rudest people i have ever met, although the guidance counselors make up for it with their kindness.

I hate Hawthorne. It's the worst school I have ever attended. The teachers don't teach and they get annoyed when someone asks for help. The school is so small you would think the teachers would be more involved but they're not. There is very little discipline. The students are very misbehaved and get away with everything. The school has limited options too. They don't offer many different electives, majors, or even normal classes.

I believe that people think that Hawthorne is a trashy school. Well its not. I went to Union County schools for eight years, and at Hawthorne I have by far learned more. Maybe it s the one-on- one teaching. I was not scared to ask the teachers here questions without getting laughed at or criticized, for not learning the material the first time it was taught it but people underestimate the learning strategies of Hawthorne. But, I am proud to be a student here at Hawthorne High School.

If you truly mean a shy kid who wants to be outgoing, then I would help them interact with one child at a time. If you are talking about an introverted child, refer to http://www.carlkingdom.com/10-myths-about-introverts

Find something you are good at or enjoy doing a lot, just one thing. You'll gain confidence and meet other kids that enjoy that activity too. Mine was singing in choir. I wasn't good at anything else but that built my confidence for other things... More »
