I have been a teacher at Hawthorne for many years. When I started Hawthorne there was a new principal in place, dealing with a steady decline in test scores (something that was happening when she took the helm) and the attitudes and unprofessional attitudes and demeanor of the staff from the former principal. I was there when the school met the challenges of being on the 'list' and came off the list in two years. Hawthorne is a great school with lots of caring teachers. It saddens me to see reviews posted by 'parents' that misalign the school and its vision.

Although they push the kids hard to be successful, the teachers at this school act like they don't really care about the students. They have a handful of good ones but i was more dissatisfied by them and the way they treated my kids as teachers. Problems with other students are blown off rather than dealt with by the teachers. My kids did not enjoy much of their experiance there and they attended for several years. Also if your child has a learning disability, they don't act like they have the time to deal with it.

Hawthorne on the basis is a good school I personally think that the teachers need to always keep in mind that our children have to always reach for excellence not mediocrity therfore if you dont want mediocore students do nat have a medicore mind set as a teacher or principal never place limatations a childs mind. with that being said as a parent the test reults that are submitted do not truly represent our children as time management needs to be implemented at Hawthorne.
