My two kids attending Basswood elementary. Earlier they were attending a leading school in Wayzata. They feel overall quality is greater than Wayzata.

My children have been attending for 6 years now and I am always impressed at the amazing strength this school has in helping kids of all abilities to achieve greatness. Every teacher is an amazing asset to both students and school a like. There are more parents involved than positions available. Don't be fooled by talk that this district takes 2nd to others. 279 is very diverse and rises to the challenges every single time. This year our school added teachers with fed. funding and have decreased class sizes in the grades that needed it most. These funds could have been used for numerous other things but our school chose to lower class sizes.

Just walk through the halls at Basswood and you will see that involved families and caring teachers are what make this school a standout. As one parent mentioned, the district is often judged as a whole. But Basswood is a community of high learning that is second to none in Maple Grove. Our kids are getting a fantastic education and school test results reflect that.

I have had at least one child at Basswood since 2002 and I absolutetly love this school. The teachers we have had are fantastic and so is the principal! People that choose to open enroll before giving this school a chance are missing out. The district is judged as whole, but there are certainly some shining stars out there in the Osses district and this school is one of them!

No. I have heard of teachers setting up FB pages on areas of study so students can use technology as a learning tool. All posts are public and private messages are disabled. I won't even friend former students. I do it as a rule-no hurt feelings.

No! As an educator, I don't want to be held responsible for what students are doing outside of the classroom.

Absolutely not. Most schools offer the homework question site through the school system. They do not need to be "friends" with their students through social networking sites.
