my chuld has been at crab orchard for two years now and im really glad she is in a good school. i graduted from there too.
I am a parent of two kids that attend the Crab Orchard Elementary school. I think that last years PTO did good things for the school and have many more good ideas and goals to strive for in the upcoming year. Meanwhile, I don't think that there is enough parent participation through out the school. It is the same parents all of the time, and they all wish that new faces would be willing to jump in and help whenever possible. Most of the teachers are okay, some need to work on there communication skills!!! I think that the school should check into a different math book. The saxon math books can be confusing and difficult at times especially as they get into algebra 1 and 2. I think that the school needs to push academics as much as they push sports and extra curricular activities. Always room for improvement!!!
I went to CO and so did my son, now my daughter goes to CO. Every school has it's pro's and con's, but in my opinion CO is one of the best schools around. They have smaller classes compared to Marion. The teachers know you by name as well as your siblings and more than likely your parents. And as far as the work goes, they do a great job in teaching our kids, the principal is wonderful he really cares about the welfare of all the students.
Teachers at Crab Orchard Elementary School strive for excellence in all areas. The Accelerated Reader program is incorporated into the curriculum, and reading levels have increased as a result. We have an excellent vocal music program, art program and offer a variety of sports for both boys and girls. Parents are encouraged to participate both inside and outside the classroom. The PTO raises thousands of dollars each year for activities and equipment for the school.
