I currently go to MV and would like to say that this school has been thru many changes in the last few years of me being in high school. Its had its ups and downs. We currently have a great administration and I am proud to call MV my school. They encourage you to go to college in fact we do many career building things. I feel that I am ready to start college as soon as I graduate. We have many new transfer students this year from bigger schools around us and as far as I can tell they seem very happy and are fitting in great. Whether you are an athlete or non athlete. Teachers always encourage you to do your very best and are very willing to help if you are struggling. I feel that MV is a great school to send my kids to in the future.
I was a transfer student to MV. I feel that if you spent your whole student life at MV, then it could have been a good school. The staff were not very open to new students. The curriculum is not set up to really help students prepare for college. I understand that they are a smaller district without the funding of the larger districts. Although I recieved good grades, I was not encouraged to enroll in college. In fact, they wouldn't let me transfer some of my credits from my previous school. I was encouraged to drop out and get my GED. I picked up credits from the nearby college to graduate. I still have nighmares that I didn't graduate. I'll wake up and for a few minutes forget that I graduated not only high school, but college as well.
Most of the teachers at mv are very condescending to any student that does not participate in athletics. None of the teachers push students to go to college. I would never send my children to this school.
I think Mission Valley is a great school. Kimberlee Andersen, the new principal is such a breath of fresh air and is good at balancing fun and discipline for not only the students, but the staff as well. I have been nothing but pleased with the changes she has made for this school and it's district.
