South is a fine school, unless you have a problem with a teacher. Most of the teachers are very good, and dedicated. Ive had several wonderful teachers. If my child had not pulled one of the few bad teachers last year, I too would rave about South. But last year one of the teachers was just really bad. The principal always backs the teacher, no matter what. So if the teacher is having a problem, no real solution is provided. I know several parents who have pulled their children out of South when they encountered problems with a teacher because the principal says, 'too bad'. She will not change a child's classroom, ever. The principal says she will help, but the options she offers last about two or three days. The common consensus among parents is, as long as you don't get one of these bad teachers, South is fine.

I have been extremely satisified with South. My boys are 9 and 10 now, and have been going since kindergarten. The teachers are outstanding when it comes to communicating either learning or discipline issues and are always there to help, as is the principal. They have a great 'bully proofing' program, and are always willing to step in when a child is being picked on. They return parent phone calls promptly, and seem to take a great interest in every child as an individual. We're moving out of district, and my greatest sadness is that my kids will need to leave South!! I only hope the communication, values and learning that takes place at their new school can compare to South!
