I agree with the previous review regarding the academics. They are truly behind, and are becoming a special need day school. I also agree that there really is a great need for a special needs school. However, I think the problems run much deeper than that. Over the last few years the school has really lost its way and the infastructure is simply not in place to run a school the size of WFHA. I do not recommend this school.

I agree completely with the first review. They are so behind in the academics beause all the special needs. They should admit they are a special need day school. Why not, it is a big need.

I agree with all the positives here. There is also an outstanding special needs program that deserves mention. PALS-WFHA gives high functioning children with a variety of needs the opportunity to receive a Jewish education. Dir. Bobbie Powers is a champ and has hired super star teachers for PALS. The small home classes provide many opportunities throughout the day for push-in to the typical program. It has full-time speech and OT. Negatives: The purchase of the beautiful campus allowed the school to expand, but gives parents less casual access to the school due to traffic rules. As a parent, I wish for more hands on contact with the school. Also, budget challenges due to expansion/ economy pose great concerns re: investment in academic excellence vs. scholarships. I am afraid for the current leadership and concerned with the school's ability to attract good and experienced teachers.

Among the best private schools anywhere. Definitely not your fathers (or mother's) day school. This egalitarian day school provides a truly diverse student body and many truly outstanding teachers. The administration works with us as parents and listens to our concerns (that didn't happen at all at our previous school). This is our family's fourth year at the school and we are as happy now with our choice as we were when we made the switch from another school. My children get a better education than their friends in some of the fanciest private schools in Greenwich and the surrounding area. And the kids and families are so much nicer! No mean girls here, no bullies. Small classes and a great teacher to student ratio means much more observation of the kids is going on and teachers really get to know the kids.
