DHS is a large (1,600 students), urban high school, so I was a little apprehensive when I enrolled my daughter there instead of sending her to the parochial high school in town. She's a sophomore now, and I'm happy to report she's doing great there! I couldn't be happier with my decision! The teachers are true professionals, the school has a lot of extracurricular activities to offer, and the atmosphere is a positive, affirming one. The walls of the school are covered with framed pictures from the school's more than 100-year past--students, alumni, etc. It gives you a feeling of being part of something bigger than yourself. DHS is an excellent school. Go Vikings!

Danville High School is the best kept secret in central Illinois! Our children thrived in the multi-cultural environment. The school has an outstanding faculty and offers many AP,dual enrollment and gifted classes. There are any number of sports and academic teams and clubs. The music program is outstanding. The school has academies within the school that are geared to career prep programs. The two most successful programs are for medical and technical occupations. Danville High sends students to the very best colleges and universities in the country. Parental involvement is encouraged but more parents need to get involved. The schools administration has not been stable and a number of positions are only held for two or three years before being moved to other assignments. The school continues to produce a good number of quality graduates. This is a testament to the strength of the faculty.
