I am a new parent to the Valley Central Middle School system. So far, I am generally satisfied with the school. I feel that there could/shoud be more homework - in particular - special projects to supplement children's learnings. If we expect excellence, our children will give it to us.
i am a former student from vcms going into vc high school. There was many to do after school and you can also get extra help. 6th grade was really fun, it wasn't scary at all. You got to meet new kids that are nice. seventh grade, the teachers start to care less about you and your work and kids get into stupid stuff and if you are not pretty don't even think about talking to a so called 'popular kid'. 8th grade the teachers seek potential in their students but some are just plain mean. And that is where kids make up rumors. some kids made rumors about me and it wasnt pleasant. that is how i got my name out. but that was the year to also find out who are fake and most of the friends are fake. the education is good but not the school.
My daughter was an A-Plus student before she came to this school. She was one of the few who loved school. She hates school now. Many teachers in this school do not listen to the students unless a parent is around. They give excessive loads of homework. My daughter has been up to 11:00 doing homework. Some parents feel the kids have to teach themselves.
We have been very happy with Valley Central Schools.My son is off with the schools ski club this morning! Teachers are up to date,great technology classes that I can't even begin to talk about, how to build a rocket,how to fix a go cart,how to write your own music on a computer. The school is #1 for Wrestling, great lacross team,baseball and football too. Teachers email grades by computer once a week, very technology driven.Security is taken very seriously. Teachers are always going above and beyond in my opinion. One of the best schools in the area.
