This is not a traditional high school. It is for students with chronic attendance or behavior issues, including recent release from Juvenile Hall. During a particularly difficult period, my son ended up at CDS. I cannot possibly praise the principal, secretary, staff, and teachers at this school enough. Yes, it's safe. And the teacher: student ratio is great. Teachers and staff are available for parents. Everyone at the school is encouraging of the students, truly caring, and deals with extreme teenage behavior in the most positive and consistent ways. They help with academics and behavior. They truly attempt to meet student's needs and inspire students academically. There are many opportunities for credits. They found a tutor through the district so that my son could stay in Trig. My son is now back to 'regular' high school, with a much better attitude and a 3.5 GPA. (& was ahead in Trig!)
