Teachers at this school make every effort to help children learn. Students have made AYP every year for the last six years!
I think South Shores is a wonderful school. All students are treated with respect and kindness. The school has high academic standards and the teachers work hard so that every student is successful.
South Shores has excellent academic programs with a strong emphasis on reading and mathematics and a focus on science. Over 400 parents and family members attended each of the fall events this year...Open House and Fall Festival. A 'Science Experience' night is planned for November. Art lessons are provided by a volunteer and by the Education Foundation to all students. An Art Display event is planned for the spring of 07. Weekly vocal music lessons, instrumental lessons and a 'bucket' percussion band round out the music program. Parents and families are involved in PTA, volunteer tutoring and classroom work. Sports include basketball and PE classes.
