Bates is one of the best elementary schools in Wellesley. There is a high level of parental involvement, excellent teachers, and staff. The children love going to school, they are challenged and supported in a nurturing environment. Specialists include Art, Music, and PE (unfortunately no Spanish). The principal knows her students, and staff and is warm and loving, but firm when needed. She makes an effort to personally know all the children and their parents. Parents are encouraged to participate! The town of Wellesley has some afterschool enrichment activities that enhance the school offerings. Both of my daughters have thrived at Bates, being challenged when they needed it, and supported when they needed help. I couldn't imagine a better school!
