This school is amazing, quite unique in terms of its emphasis on social skills as well as academics. The kids are really engaged by hands-on activities and music/movement integrated to the classroom. Overall, it's a very neat community of involved parents, creative children, and extremely capable teachers.

This school really does focus on individual learning. They also take the best learning from when I was a child and bring it back. They have mixed aged classes, have song & movement, have structured lessons as well as choices in their learning, all with little to no homework. They have also begun doing Singapore Math in 2008. The only thing I dislike but also like is the parent involvement. There is a real dedication by the parents and they all volunteer. On the flip side, they are so involved sometimes it becomes a 'political game' to keep everyone happy. Overall, I am very pleased with the school. I grew up in private & public schools and have even pondered private schools many times. I am not sure my child will do as well as they have at this school and that suprises me when I think about that.

This school is an excellent example of how public school can be done right. Each child is seen as a true individual. Learning Styles and modalities of learning are understood and children have the ability to express what they have learned in many different ways. The social-emotional development of each child is valued as much as academics. Every day they have a 'council circle' and each child is given the opportunity to talk about their day, any problems on the play yard are talked about and not ignored. As a brand new school, the first year has been bumpy. But it has improved dramatically in the first year and there is a strong sense of community. Also, it is one of the few public school options for students who benefit from above grade level work. Many of the students here appear to work above grade level. Take a tour to see if it is a good fit for your family.
