As a current senior (2012) of Ridgeland High School i just wanted to say that my years here have been pretty good. Yes, some teachers seem to not care but that's at every school. Our graduation rate has risen in the past 4 years that Mr. Smith has been here. The Band and Chorus programs are really GREAT here. Mr. Chambers and Mr. Goss are 2 of THE BEST teachers at Ridgeland. They always push us to learn not only in their classroom but in our academics also. The discipline here is also very fair. In my French class I am currently taking, I LOVE it because I am actually learning. Mrs. Edwards is also in our top 10 teachers because she REALLY cares about not only us in her class but us in our other classes and pushes us to graduate. All around Ridgeland High School really is a good school.

Let's just say that I'm praying this school makes changes to the way they run the place. It is best known for it's drop-outs, I, too being one. I cared enough to finish my education, and I'm glad I did (by the GED) RHS says you can't get a job with a GED which is a total lie.(Ask any GED recipient w/ a job.) All it bulls down to is all the other schools around RHS have good reputations (mostly) and have low drop-out rates. Ridgeland, on the other hand, does not. They're just sore about the fact that they look lesser than the others because of the things that go on there, so lying is their way of decreasing the drop-out rate instead of fixing the problem that's making the students quit. They're just lazy and inconsiderate of what the students have to endure on a daily basis.

This school is absolutely horrrible ! from all the bullying that goes on , ugh . I wanted to move after my first year ! and i did . I made a cross country move and noticed the difference in the teachers part , and the education . The education is so much better up north and i actually learn things instead of being told to learn them automatically . I am soo glad i moved . I would not recommend this school to anyone !!

I am writing to say that this school is terrible, and here's a major example: I am 16 and was scared to death by the school. It was so poorly administrated, and the bullying, threatening, and the pot smoking teenagers in the ROTC hall bathrooms scared me, too. I applied for a private school, but unfortunately, could not afford it. I had no other choice but RHS. I am now a drop-out in a GED class, all because of fear from what could happen to me or to my friends at this 'school' or whatever they call it. This place is below unsatisfactory.

No. I have heard of teachers setting up FB pages on areas of study so students can use technology as a learning tool. All posts are public and private messages are disabled. I won't even friend former students. I do it as a rule-no hurt feelings.

No! As an educator, I don't want to be held responsible for what students are doing outside of the classroom.

Absolutely not. Most schools offer the homework question site through the school system. They do not need to be "friends" with their students through social networking sites.
