Do not let the size of this school fool you, it is the little school that could. Although it's one of the smallest my children ever attended, it offers more academic courses and better teachers than some schools three times its size. We had to leave due to a job transfer and we miss the school and town terribly. I always wondered why out of town parents would pay tuition and drive long distances for their children to go to this public school, now I understand why. Get your children into this school while you can, the secret is out!

I paid tuition to put my two children through the West Point School system and feel it was money well spent. Both children felt they were prepared for college as well as the real world. Small class size and teachers who care about the kids. I do feel there should be more technical courses for students that do not wish to go to college, and the Town and area schools are now addressing this issue.

I recently attended West Point High School until I moved to Chesterfield County two years ago. After experiencing school outside of West Point I have to say that it is the most amazing school I have ever seen. The parent who commentated earlier in this forum about the 'misfits' is sadly mistaken. Not only is the school great but, if you cannot afford tuition, it may be worth it to move to the town.

I moved my family to West Point a few years ago based solely on the reputation of the school. However, this school has been a huge disappointment. For kids who are naturally academically inclined (only 2 of mine were) or for parents that drive their kids to be overachievers maybe this is the school. Unfortunately, for those children who don't 'fit' the mold school life will not be a pleasant experience. For these 'misfits' daily public humiliation and belittling is the rule (by the teachers! and staff! not their peers). If your child has 'maturity' issues or is academically challenged avoid this school. Over the years there have been some teachers who have tried to make a difference but unfortunately they didn't 'fit' either. For a school this small the staff turnover rate is amazing, (message here?)

If parents are willing to drive the extra distance, why wouldn't they be allowed to choose? Every school is not a match for every child and parents know their children best ... More »

Definitely! I believe that families should be allowed to attend any school they want, because there are some who went to a good school and parents want what's best for their kids. Even education.

Families should be able to attend any school they wish.
