Elmhurst was a wonderful school for my two children. They both thrived under conscientious and caring teachers. We have moved out of state and they both still very fondly remember 'the good ole days' at Elmhurst Elementary. It is the closest you can get to a private education in a public school system.

I would like anyone that is considering sending their child to this school to know that I have had four children attend this school over 10 years. My children had differing abilities, some struggled and others straight A students. The school is nothing short of exemplary. It consistently ranks in the top tier of elementary schools in Rhode Island. The principal & teachers are truly hands on, really care about the students and the PTO is very strong. The facility is somewhat lacking but the site is located in an absolute pristine waterfront setting w/ open space behind. Our children have always been safe there. This school is the best kept secret on Aquidneck Island. It is the closest I can compare to a private school, with great staff, setting, enrichment and after school programs. Do not hesitate for one second to send your child(ren) there.

We are a military family with two children at Elmhurst. We have been disappointed in the academics that the school provides, especially enrichement and math in general. We have not found it to be a warm or inviting school, however, there are definitely some nice teachers. There appears to be some significant funding issues that affect the quality of the education as well. I would not recommend this school, especially the upper grades for which I am familiar. I would recommend an investment in one of the private schools--which we will be doing.

School does well but does not add much to what students come into the school with. In other words, what's the added value of this school's education? Too much emphasis upon homework in lower grades. Some extras are a nice touch, if less solid in reality.
