Great Leadership is definitely what has Appling shining like a star. There were several parents that transferred their children to Miller thinking that Mr. Steve Jones would still be the principal there. We were all surprised when he was sent to Appling. I am so impressed with how easy my daughter transitioned to middle school. Coming from Walter P. Jones Elementary after Vickie Miller left and Ms. Malone doing a not so great job of filling Ms. Miller's shoes, I prayed that middle school would be better for my daughter. God answered my prayers. The difference is so noticeable in the students, teachers and administration. My daughter wants to participate in everything and she can't wait to go to school. Everyday, she tells me what she learned that day. I taught in the Bibb County Public school system and know how challenging it is to be in the classroom these days. Appling Middle School really has come a long way since my 20 year old was there. Keep up the great work!

This school is unprofessional. It does not teach children to be successful adults, but successful thugs, its own principal encourages the students to use slang and came up with a form of dress down day called "swag day" I do not think it is proper to allow the teachers to talk in suck a manner to the children, as my own son says that they do. He thinks it is okay to speak like a degenerate because of the supposed "role models" at this school. I do not want my children talking like thugs!

Oh my goodness!!!! You guys worte about that school in 2004 but honey its 2008 and this school is the worst school in Bibb County!!!!!!!!! I Was a student at this school for 2 years (seventh and eight grade) Class of 07 and now im in the ninth grade. I am so happy to be out of this school it dosent make any sense. Its terrible if I could I would give it 0 stars!!!! The lunch taste like pure s word, the milk was always spoil the lunch was always rotten and you can forget about education at this school forget it. I strongly recommend you do not let your child attend this school there were fights everyday, the principal is not serious about what he is doing the scool is just terrible. As a teacher, let me tell you about some of the things I see everyday at Appling. The children at this school behave terribly and do not want to learn. They curse, make threats, sleep in class, and do poorly on very simple work. Out of 120 students, maybe 5 in each class actually want and try to learn. The principal this year is not helpful and has on several occasions walked by my class in the hall while they were yelling, running around, etc. without saying a word to any of them. This school is heading down hill and I hope I'm not there when it comes crashing down.
