Our daughter entered Alex Sanger Elementary (Kindergarten) this year (2010-2011). Our experience has been great. Prior to entering the school my research was face-to-face. I spoke with teachers & parents privately, visited classes & interviewed the principle. It's a lovely school with cultural and ethnic diversity. There is always room for improvement in any school. Get involved as a parent! Get in there for the good of all the students. Even if you decide on a school outside your district / private, the children within your area deserve the best from all of us.
Get on Board! The movement has started.... Looking at the current kindergarten class you can see that there are many more local neighborhood kids and that the parent involvement of the Sanger ECPTA (Early Childhood PTA) is very high. This is a very good school that will soon be a great school! The current kindergarten class will completely transform the school and take the TAKS scores through the roof! This is a WONDERFUL, safe and loving environment for a child to be in every day. As parents we could not be happier!
The information posted by the parent on 4/27 is inaccurate. 5th grade reading scores were 82% on last year's taks. pretty good, I'd say. This year's scores have not been tabulated or posted. My suggestion to this concerned parent is to get involved with the PTA and volunteer with an after school reading program.
My child attends Sanger. I thought the school was fine until I learned about the fifth grade TAKS scores. Their Reading scores are in the 60's and Math in the 70's. That's scary when you have fifth graders that can't read! Will our children be prepared for middle school? How about the future? I am deeply concerned.
