When we first moved to Tacoma, and were getting ready for Elementary School i drove around to all the schools near my house and there are alot of elem schools near my home, Fawcett was the only one that made me feel comfortable. My oldest daughter started and finished her elementary years at Fawcett. And my youngest daughter is going on 3rd grade there. I really like the the teachers, and principal Mr. Edmond, I think they work hard to make sure the kids are safe and taught well.
When we bought our house 9 years ago right next to fawcett, i told my husband that our then 9 month old daughter would never go to that school and she would attend the school i did in the north end of tacoma.. Boy was i wrong, fawcett is our family!! we are so blessed to have such great stuff!!! keep up the good work!
My son has been at Fawcett for 2 years and absolutely hates it. He is one of the more advanced children in his class but is afraid to participate due to the taunting and physical abuse that he suffers on the playground. His lowest score on his report card was a 94%, however his teacher had not one positive thing to say about him. Stating that he does not participate and has a hard time focusing. We have come to believe that this is due to sub-standard teaching materials, and the teacher having to focus more attention on the children with lesser abilities. It is a sad thing to see a child this brilliant slipping through the cracks because he has certain educational and parental advantages at home.
My daughter has attended Fawcett for 2 years now and loves it. I really feel confident she is getting the best education she could receive. Fawcett has an excellent principal! Cindy Johnson is the best and really brought life to this school. She is very involved with the children everyday and they love her.
