This is the type of school and education that people think doesn't exist anymore and long for it. A community of families and and staff committed to the success of each student and the school and dedicated to keeping tuition at an affordable level for a broad base of families. The school is house in a beautiful early 20th century home majestically situation overlooking Gloucester Harbor onto Boston. The class sizes are small, teachers excellent and devoted, and the curriculum strong and dynamic utilizing a vast amount of local resources. I can't say enough about what a special educational opportunity this is for a child and family.

Tonight was my daughter's 2nd grade open house for parents. Wow! She has been at this school for 4 years, but this year truly marks a whole new journey for her. The staff has put together an amazing curriculum with partnerships for science and history with local museums that include weekly visits, a math program that is stellar with web-based partnerships, and a reading/writing programs that includes a weekly library visit (important to us full-time corporate parents that can't get there). And the new after school teacher has a great program including homework (Ty!) and art! Between all of that, a great team, focused attention with small class sizes (~10 kids per) and a program for Drama, Spanish, Art, PE & Music - we r so happy! But it's not for the parents who want to drop & run and never be around - the school needs parent involvement!

St Mels Day School (now called Eastern Point Day School) could not be better for our 5 year old daughter. While she enters kindergarten this fall she has been enrolled in the Pre-K I and Pre-K II programs (which run from 8:30 to 12) and in the two after school programs Lunch Bunch (12-2) and Extended Day (2-5). It seems nearly each week the teachers have a field trip planned or other activity outside the class room that complements the learning process and makes the day fun. The parents are very involved with the school and this creates a wonderful, caring, committed and safe school environment. The after school programs offer music, language, art and other activities to keep students engaged, learning and happy. Tuition is very reasonable and you truly feel 'part' of your childs learning process.

All three of my children attend Eastern Point Day School and have been from Pre K on. The experience has been rewarding and successful not only for my children, but also my family in general. Our children are in a safe, nurturing environment where academic excellence is the focus and expiditionary learning and enrichment programs are integrated into every day life at the school. What a special and wonderful commmunity of families!
